Watching over our whales
THE ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATION AGENCY (EIA) was set up in 1984 after its founding directors travelled to the Faroe Islands to expose the brutal pilot whale hunt. “We have continued to campaign against the large-scale slaughter of all cetaceans and to maintain the IWC ban on whaling,” it says. “The world’s whales, dolphins and porpoises are at threat from ever more man-made threats, not just hunting but also climate change, bycatch, overfishing, pollution, ship strikes and marine debris. Please support us in our work to protect them.” Find out more on stand 285.

Welcome to adrenaline diving … Maldives Style.”

Sign up for a Freediving Level 1 program or get your feet wet with the SSI Freediving Basic program.” To learn more about these and many other SSI Instructor Courses and Crossovers, visit stand 824 at LIDS or go to www.divessi.com

Wonders of the Celebes Sea
NOW "FIRMLY ESTABLISHED as one of the best dive operations in Manado”, Tasik Divers is once again proud to be exhibiting at LIDS, where it will be showcasing its new venture. The location is Derawan in the Celebes sea, where Tasik Divers is opening a new lodge, giving the opportunity “to dive with mantas and turtles along with the chance to dive and snorkel in one of only two jellyfish lakes in the world, Kakaban.”
Also planned for the show is a display of photos by Paul ‘Duxy’ Duxfield, so British Society of Underwater Photographers members and other keen photographers are advised to “drop by to see the wonders of the Celebes Sea”. Interested divers should, says Tasik Divers, “come by stand 335 and find out more from someone who’s been there, done that, and will actually be wearing the T-shirt!”
‘All this, and manta rays too!’
"RAJA AMPAT IS right in the very ‘bull’s eye’ of biodiversity. There are more different species of fish and in higher numbers than you will have ever seen before! It’s also one of the best manta-ray dive locations anywhere.” That’s the message from Papua Diving, which says it has “20-plus years’ experience operating in the area and knows the reefs better than anyone.”
Find out more by visiting Papua Diving on stand 329 in the Asia Pacific Showcase, where it will be featuring its video and book, ‘The Raja Ampat through the lens of’. There will also be special reduced rates available to Dive Show visitors.
